IVF Assisted hatching may improve pregnancy rates in some women undergoing IVF.
This procedure may increase the embryo’s chance of hatching or may help the embryo to hatch a little sooner.
Treatment Details
In assisted hatching, an opening is formed in the shell (the zona) surrounding the embryo before the embryo is transferred to the uterus. IVF Assisted Hatching might help the embryo to implant in the uterus during the implantation window.
It is thought that some women may fail IVF cycles because their eggs have a thicker shell, therefore assisted hatching can provide a better prognosis. Additionally, hatched embryos implant one day earlier, which may allow a greater opportunity for implantation to occur. Research has shown that assisted hatching can be beneficial for women over the age of 35 and for those with previously failed IVF cycles.
